CRUCIFIX
The Crucifix is richly decorated and presents a deeply spiritual and evocative image.
Our beloved Church – One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic – is represented by Bernini’s colonnade, which in a magnificent perspective converges toward St. Peter’s Basilica. Symbolically, it is upheld by the pierced hands of Christ, while the angels at His feet adore Him. This artistic depiction proclaims that, despite the trials and persecutions the Church has endured throughout history, it always stands firmly upon Christ, who sustains and guides its through the centuries by means of His Vicar, the Pope. The border of the crucifix is adorned with elegant floral motifs in Baroque style, expressing beauty and sacredness.

On the reverse is engraved the powerful verse of the Gospel in Latin:
“Tu es Petrus, et super hanc petram aedificabo Ecclesiam meam” (Mt 16:18–19), with which Jesus entrusts His Church to Peter.

CENTERPIECE
The front of the Centerpiece presents an incredible, finely detailed miniature portrait of Pope Leo XIV. Every element – from the papal vestments to the pectoral cross – is meticulously engraved, giving a lifelike impression that emphasizes the solemnity and strength of his figure. The inscription “Leo PP. XIV” clearly identifies the Pontiff, making this centerpiece a true jewel of devotional artistry.

The reverse side depicts the Virgin Mary, majestic and welcoming, with open arms as a sign of maternal protection. Behind her rises the Basilica of St. Peter with its embracing colonnade, symbol of the universal Church. At the base, the Gospel inscription reads: “Tu es Petrus, et super hanc petram aedificabo Ecclesiam meam”, recalling Christ’s words to St. Peter and the mission carried out by his successors. Through this image we wished to express a profound message: the Pontificate of Pope Leo XIV entrusted to the protection of Mary, Mother of the Church, who watches over the journey of faith and the ministry of Peter’s Successor.
