So, you’ve learned how to pray the Rosary yourself, but what about the other members of your family? Finding ways to incorporate a prayer as powerful as the Rosary into daily family life can certainly be a big task, especially for those families only beginning to discover the Rosary together.

No need to feel overwhelmed. We have defined five simple ways for your family to continue exploring this powerful month of prayer to the Madonna together.

1. Spread Out the Rosary

The Rosary is a form of prayer that can be time consuming. With little ones, it can be especially difficult to keep their focus on the task at hand. Simply begin by spreading out the Rosary throughout the day. Begin one decade in the morning, one before lunch, one in the late afternoon, one after dinner, and one before bedtime.

If fitting a whole rosary in a day still feels too daunting, try spreading it out through the week. As St. John Paul II said, practice a “Living Rosary.” Pray a decade each day at differing times, so you and your family get used to incorporating the Rosary throughout all times of the day. Remember to practice mindfulness and center yourself when working through each decade.

2. Glorify On the Go

Do you have young children with lots of energy? Have your family grab their rosaries and take them for a walk outside. Enjoy the fresh air and all of God’s glorious creation as you teach your little ones to praise the Holy Family.

Take advantage of errand running and car rides with your family, too. Encourage a decade to be prayed during your drive. This practice will not only remind your family to praise the Blessed Mother during a busy time, but it will also serve as a reminder for yourself.

3. Get Creative

Introduce arts and crafts into your time for prayer. Print thisRosary coloring page to share with your kids, and as you pray, have them color in each bead. It’s an easy way to incorporate creativity and prayer for little ones.

Are you children not big into coloring? Try building a Rosary chain. Cut out strips of construction paper and choose colors for each prayer. As your family prays the rosary, assemble the Rosary chain until you’ve built a giant Rosary. This interactive practice will clearly show your little ones how to pray the Rosary.

4. Tell the Story

Share each mystery with your family. Take turns with your spouse teaching your little ones about each mystery to ignite their interest in prayer and help them understand the “whys” behind praying the Rosary.

5. Be a Witness

Having trouble getting the family engaged in praying the Rosary? Continue to pray it anyways. Set an example of being a witness to Christ through this glorifying act. Your family will take notice and will remember the goodness shared from your prayerful acts.

Begin this journey with the ones you love the most by giving them one of the beautiful Ghirelli Rosaries for the Family. This collection emphasizes the message that “the family that prays together, stays together” and encourages the practice of prayer amongst Domestic Church.
